History of this Website

I have visited Hogar Miguel Magone on several occasions and would like to encourage people interested in volunteering to join me for an amazing and rewarding experience in a beautiful part of the world. This is why we (Amanda and myself) decided to set up this website and expand the work that we do in Guatemala.

1. We feel that potential volunteers should be briefed on what to expect before they leave for their project.

2. We feel that volunteers should feel supported whilst on placement.

3. We feel it is importnat to realise that this is not a leisure holiday but a chance to do great and sometimes hard work in a unique place of hope.

We both gained a lot from our experiences, but the work is hard, the children can be difficult (remember that they have had very damaged backgrounds) and the Hogar is quite isolated.

If you are the right kind of person for the job you can make a huge difference. These children have been abused, abandoned and neglected so when they put their trust in you, it is one of the most incredible feelings you will ever have.   An experience like this will change your life for ever!

We are here to make your volunteer trip as enjoyable as possible and to provide necessary preparation and support for an enjoyable stay.
