What you need to bring

Mosquito repellant - the bugs are evil in the evening!

A sheet or sleeping bag lining for your bed - there are lots of blankets provided.

A Kagool or mac because when it rains in Guatemala - it really rains!

A torch - the lighting around the home is not left on at night (to save on the electricity bill) and as it's usually dark when you make your way to the kitchen in the morning - it's a good idea to have a little light.

Suitable clothing, t shirts and trousers are a good idea. It is not really acceptable to have clothes that are too revealing or difficult to move around in. When we go, we pack:

Light trousers

Shorts

Jeans

Flip flops

T-shirts

Sweatshirts for the evening

Jacket

Dictionary

Raincoat

Sun hat/ Cap

Sunglasses

Trainers

Anticeptic cream

If you need it - there is a laundry on the site which you can use in the evening.

Good shoes are essential for the walks to school. Trainers are a good option.

Sun block. You will be high up in the mountains where the air is thinner and the sunlight is less filtered.

Donations and any goodies that will help. The boys always need toothbrushes, shoe laces, little samples of hairgel/shampoo/toothpaste, pencils, pens, belts for their trousers, calculators - all little things that will fit nicely in your suitcase.

FRESH WATER FOR YOU TO DRINK IS PROVIDED!

Depending on the season you will need different types of clothing. It is always advisable to check the weather for the time that you are going. It can get surprisingly cold where the Hogar is situated as it is in the hills and the temperature drops in the evening.
